lyrics
Poem by Helen Rounds
She comes home every night and falls into his chair
She starts talking to him, as if he were still there
Then the pain starts to hurt and the tears fall like rain
When she thinks that it’s stopped, it starts all over again
And she prays:
Take me out of this life; it’s no way to be living
I’ve been trying real hard; I just want to give in
Wrap me in your arms so I won’t be alone
Please take me to heaven, I just want to go home
She waits in the rain for an answer from him
The clouds start to part; she sees the sun from within
She hopes and she prays that he’s taking her away
But the rain falls again; she won’t see him today
And she prays”
Take me out of this life; it’s no way to be living
I’ve been trying real hard I just want to give in
Wrap me in your arms, so I won’t be alone
Please take me to heaven, I want to go home
The seasons they change, the days are now longer
She starts to feel better, each day she grows stronger
Her smile is much brighter, there’s a peace from within
For she no longer waits for her life to begin
And she prays:
Don’t take me out of this life, I want to keep living
There’s so much left to do, no time to give in
You wrapped me in your arms so I was never alone
I’ll see you in heaven, but for now THIS IS HOME
